How to avoid our tendency to overthink in our relationship.
We have shared quite a bit these past few weeks, and there is a tendency that we may become overwhelmed by the information or the depth of what is required in a kingdom relationship.
I certainly understand this.
We may even wonder if any relationship is worth this amount of work.
Are you feeling this way, or do you think you’re heading down this path? Then I have some good news:
A kingdom relationship, at the heart of it, is not about you.
Yes, you are the one who has been called to do life with another.
But it is essentially about God – His faithfulness, love, and power coursing through us.
This is great news!
Let God lead.
Have you tried to do “all the things” in your strength?
Maybe you are: speaking positively, learning to forgive more easily, encouraging your partner, supporting them, and still developing your character and skills for your future marriage.
That’s an armful of stuff.
But God never called us to do life, or anything in it, in our strength.
This means that we need to avoid our tendency to overthink. We need to avoid our tendency to work in our flesh rather than by His Spirit which quickens our spirit to do His will.
Do you know what He asks of us? –To trust and obey him.
Have you been struggling in these areas?
