Five Scripture Verses to remind you God will meet you right where you are
What are you going through?
What has left you bent over in pain and anguish?
It’s easy to think we are alone and unknown in our moments of hurt and despair. We may feel that no one can possibly understand.
Even worse, we may believe that our discomfort and anguish will never leave us, that they will be clumps of mud hanging on to the hem of our lives, impossible to shake off, and a constant reminder of our ineptitude.
Yet, we know there is another side to this story, another indistinguishable part of the story of our lives. One that our pain pushes us to forget, but one our spirit yearns for – a father who never fails.
It takes a lot to go to God in our agony.
Our fears and regret may weigh down on us, and our eyes unable to look up to the hills. But even if you must crawl, sore limbs and all, I pray you go to Him – for He is your succor and hiding place. He is the fountain of grace and mercy.
“Give all your worries and cares to God for he cares about you.”
1 Peter 5:7
Five Scripture Reminders that God is right there with you
Whatever you may be going through, here are five scriptures to remind you that God is right there with you.
But before I share these five scripture verses, I would like you to ponder the below excerpt from Anne Lamott. It is a beautiful reminder that at the heart of it all is God. He is the one who makes our lives worth living and nothing can alter his unchanging love for us.
Abraham understood that all he really had in life was God’s unimaginable goodness and love, God’s promise of protection, God’s paradoxical promise that Isaac would provide him with many descendants. He understood that without God’s love and company, this life would be so empty and barbaric that it almost wouldn’t matter whether his son was alive or not.”

-
He will neither leave nor forsake you
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6
-
He will heal your heart and mend your wounds
He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.”
Psalm 147:3
-
You will find rest in him
Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Matthew 11:28-29
-
He will work it all out for your good
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28
-
Nothing will ever separate you from God’s love
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present not things to come, not height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39
Finding God’s Peace in our turmoil
In conclusion, I want to remind you that the peace we long for — peace in our hearts, our minds, and our bodies– can be found in one source: God. Our Lord says it is peace so different from what the world offers that the world cannot even comprehend it.
Imagine that!
I pray that in this season of distress and worry, you will experience our Lord’s unimaginable peace. You will allow His grace and mercy to abound like never before.
As Anne Lamott says:
“I do not at all understand the mystery of grace – only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.”
