Advice for the girl about to turn 30
As someone who is now well over thirty, I am excited to see younger ladies looking forward to this milestone. It’s almost like some rite of passage, and I think it behooves us the older ones to help them along the way, right? ?
Without further ado, here are sixteen tips and suggestions to help you thrive in your 30s.
Many of these were things I learned along the way and things other incredible women have shared with me.
Enjoy!
Sixteen things every 30-year-old should know
- Be self-aware. Your thirties will be an incredible time to know and understand yourself better. Do self-reflections and know what you stand for. This is so important as you will constantly be faced with distractions and varying opinions.
- It’s okay to say no. Really, you can say no, and the world will not come to an end.
- Find the things you truly love and spend more time doing those things.
- Save more, give more, and live on less.
- Experiences trump things. Many years from now, you are more likely to remember the experiences than the things.
- What goes around comes around. This is true for fashion, food, and even the way we treat others. Respect yourself and respect others.
- Be more mindful of who you date. In your 30’s dating is serious business. You’re not just doing it to pass time but with the end goal of marriage.
- It is better to make difficult decisions upfront than to hope for the best. Be bold enough to ask the hard but necessary questions. This will save you a lot of time, regret, and heartache.
- There’s nothing like a self-made woman. We all need each other to thrive and grow.
- Your body will start doing funny things. Don’t panic, it’s all part of life (and growing older).
- There might be a few grey hairs, own them. That’s not only wisdom but experience.?
The glory of the young is their strength; the gray hair of experience is the splendour of the old.”
Proverbs 20:29
- Life will not always be rosy, but you have the power to choose what you make of the circumstances and situations you face. Make the most of it.
- Gratitude makes room for joy. You are probably anxious about turning 30 and that’s normal. I was as well, but when it happened, I noticed a change; I felt more confident and realized that at the end of the day, ‘life is what you make of it.’ You get to choose. Be optimistic, smile (and laugh) often, and find reasons to be grateful.
- Sleep more, eat better, and find time to shake that butty (sha workout)?.
- Get closer to God. Of everything I’ve said, this is the most important, and the one that changes everything. Your spiritual life matters, don’t ignore this no matter what.
- Remember that 30 is just the beginning of a new decade. You will not only be fine but will flourish.
All the best, sisters❤️❤️
