10 Scriptures to meditate on when you’re down and out

Have you ever experienced moments where several things were going wrong at the same time?

These are moments where you are fighting battles in various areas of your life – your relationships, finances, health, and work – you’re struggling to rise above the pain and disappointment, but it seems impossible.

I have learned that the perspective we take at moments like this is critical. If we choose to fight our battles in our own strength, then we have already lost.  There is only one effective way to come against life’s trials – God’s way.

When we take on his perspective and do it His way; we enjoy the incredible privilege of a father who wants to help us, who calls us to lean on him and watch him fight on our behalf.

So, whatever it is you’re going through, whatever has you bent out of shape, I pray you meditate on these words of encouragement to help you fight effectively.

1. Count it all joy

2. Know that God has plans for you

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11

 

3. Fight the battle in your mind

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

5. Use your spiritual amour

There is a purpose and a plan

Did you know that life is filled with detours? That the trajectory of your life is never linear.

Perhaps, you believed that your life should have followed the expected milestones:

College – work – marriage – kids – wealth – impact – grandchildren

But your life is not in alignment.

Here’s some great news – God knows, and he’s got a unique plan for your life.

Trust him.

Don’t give up when the going gets tough but hold on to His word. The Bible reminds us that:

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
