God knows what you need!
In an earlier post, I wrote about how we Christians often treat God like a genie.
This happens when we only go to God to get something and expect to get it when we want it.
We may find that we base our relationship with our maker on his ability to grant our requests. We may even sulk and avoid Him when we feel He is holding out on us.
I remember a season of financial difficulty that found me upset with God as I felt he was holding out on me. Thankfully, I had a friend remind me that it’s not for us to determine the time but to trust God to provide all that we need in his own time and way.
Through this experience and so many others, I’ve realized how easy it is to fall into two categories, those who believe God does not love them enough to grant their prayer request and those who have accepted the devil’s lies that if we want something, we have to get it ourselves rather than depend on God.
Thankfully, we serve a gracious and loving father who is able to do more than we can ask or imagine.
God knows what you need before you ask
You have probably heard the saying that ‘God knows what you need before you ask,’ it is what we want to believe to be true but there are times when the reality of our lives makes this impossible. Times when it seems we have been praying, over and over for the same things.
Have you ever felt that way?
If so, I will be sharing 10 scriptures to remind you of the power of God’s providence. But before then, here are three principles to remember:
- What we believe is what we will experience
- Gratitude makes room for provision
- Do not limit God. Whatever you do, please do not limit God by elevating your experiences, your situation, excuses, and even other people’s experiences ahead of God’s word. Just don’t do it!
The unadulterated truth is that:
Our satisfaction, happiness, and joy can only be found at the feet of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ. He is the only one that can fill us and give us a complete life. (See John 10:10)
10 Bible verses that remind us that God knows what we need.
I have divided these scripture verses into three main areas: verses about God’s direction and wisdom, God’s provision, and God’s redemptive power.
He will direct our paths
- Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.”
Jeremiah 29:11-12 NKJV
- Psalm 23
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
Psalms 23:1-4 NKJV
- Proverbs 3:5 -6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
- John 15:4
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.”
John 15:4 NKJV
He will provide for us
- Matthew 6:32-33
“For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Matthew 6:32-33 NKJV
- Luke 12:24
“Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?”
Luke 12:24 NKJV
- Ephesians 3:20
“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”
Ephesians 3:20 NLT
He will turn things around
- Romans 8:28
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
Romans 8:28 NLT
- Ephesians 2:10
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Ephesians 2:10 NLT
- Isaiah 43:19
“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:18-19
Conclusion – The Lord will provide
There are times in our life when guilt and fear stop us from trusting God and surrendering our all to him. I want to encourage you today that trusting God with your dreams is the most important decision you will make today.
Let him guide you and let him provide as only he can, and like Abraham, you can confidently say that “…the Lord himself will provide.” Amen (see Genesis 22)
